Labour and birth support from home to hospital

Feel supported by a familiar midwife as labour begins at home and you prepare to meet your baby in hospital.

Having someone beside you who knows your wishes can bring reassurance as labour unfolds.

Rachel offers personal support, practical guidance and encouragement for you and your birth partner, from time at home when appropriate through to labour and birth in your booked hospital.

What might support look like on the day?

We prepare together beforehand, including when to call and when assessment or hospital care may be needed.

At home, Rachel can assess you and your baby when appropriate, suggest comfortable positions and support you through contractions. That might mean warmth, massage, quiet encouragement or helping your partner find ways to support you.

In hospital, Rachel can help you settle into the birth space, continue comfort measures and stay connected to your preferences as circumstances unfold. She can help you understand information, ask questions and talk through options with your treating team.

Rachel’s role in hospital

Rachel attends as your chosen support person. Your hospital midwives and medical team remain responsible for all clinical care.

Rachel provides practical and emotional support for you and your birth partner, helps you understand your options, communicate your preferences and supports your involvement in decisions.
