Why see a midwife before pregnancy
Some useful steps happen before a positive pregnancy test. Reviewing medicines, starting suitable supplements and checking vaccination needs early gives you time to make changes with the right advice. You can also begin a relationship with a midwife who can continue your care if you become pregnant.
What happens at your appointment
We start with your health and family history. Your appointment can include:
• Health Condition Review
• Supplements discussion
• Vaccination & Screening
• Fertility assessment
• Wellbeing & activity discussion
• Clinical plan and relevant tests.
Your next steps
You leave with an agreed plan for any tests, referrals and follow-up. Clinic appointments are available in Albury and Myrtleford, with home visits within the service area. No GP referral is needed.
Prepare for pregnancy with your own midwife
Thinking about a baby can bring excitement, questions and a long list of things to work out.
Rachel helps you understand what matters for your health and make a practical plan before pregnancy.Â
When to book
Book when you begin thinking about pregnancy. Allow around three months before trying, so there is time to review your health. If you have a long-term condition or previous complications, an earlier review can help coordinate your care.
Length and costs
Appointments allow 60 minutes. Clinic appointments are $170 and home visits are $220. Consultations are privately billed.
